Introduction

It is a fact that visiting a church can be intimidating for many people especially if you do not know what is happening. We want to go out of our way to make you feel welcomed and make visiting church a comfortable experience for you. We hope the information provided here makes a Sunday service seem less intimidating for you:

Here at Scarisbrick New Road Baptist Church we use Bible readings, prayers, music, teaching and sometimes other creative things to seek to draw close to God in worship and to get to know him.

A normal Sunday service includes:

• Music – A mixture of traditional hymns and modern worship songs. Words are projected onto a screen at the front of the church.
• Bible readings – We believe that through the Bible God has revealed himself and his truth. It is through the Bible that God teaches and guides his people, therefore it has the central place in all that we are as a community.biblereadingweb.JPG
• Prayers – Prayers may be led from the front of church or regular attendees may pray from the congregation.
• Offering – The offering is an opportunity for regular church members to give financially as they wish to work of the church. This is generally done by passing small bags along the rows. As a visitor you will not be expected to give anything at all therefore please do not feel embarrassed to let the offering bag go past you.
• A time of teaching – This will be based on the Bible and it gives us time to explore how we can understand the Bible for our lives today.
• Communion – Once a month (3rd Sunday) we share bread and wine together as part of our service. We do this following the pattern laid out by Jesus. Eating the bread and drinking the wine for Christians is a reminder of the life and death of Jesus, and all that it means.

Once a month (2nd Sunday) our Girls Brigade joins with us on a Sunday for worship. On this day we especially aim for the service to be accessible and yet relevant for both young people and old.kidscornerweb1.JPG

At the back of the church we have a Children’s Area that parents and young children can enjoy during our services.

Our church is equipped with a loop system which enables those who are hearing impaired and have a hearing aid to take part in our services.

After our service we serve tea, coffee and biscuits. This enable us to build friendships and enjoy each others company.
